The 50mm grinding burrs inside the MDF grinder are made of durable tempered steel to provide years and years of service before needing replacement. The burrs turn at slow speeds resulting in better consistency in the grind. The burrs are also easily replaceable and available for an economical price.

The Gaggia MDF offers 34 degrees of fineness control over your grind.  Simply turn the bean hopper to make adjustments from fine to coarse.  This grinder is capable of grinding finely enough for Turkish coffee or coarse enough for French Press.

The MDF does not have a grinds catch box for the ground coffee like many lower priced grinders. Instead, it features a system commonly used in commercial machines called a doser. Coffee is ground into a chamber and a lever on the side of the machine is used to "dose" out specific volumes of ground coffee into the waiting portafilter.

The MDF can easily hold up to 10 ounces of whole coffee beans. The compartment is well made with tight tolerances to help keep the beans fresh.

Gaggia didn't skimp on the electric motor when designing this machine. It's powerful motor provides plenty of strength to grind through any type of coffee bean from fine to the coarsest settings. A gear reduction system further refines the torque delivery of this grinder, adding to the overall durability and performance.

The main body is made of cast metal, offering excellent durability while lowering the overall noise of the MDF grinder.  The dosing lever, bean hopper, and ground coffee hopper are made of thick plastic.
