Cuisinart produced two versions of this model to suit the design of your kitchen. You may choose between a brushed stainless steel finish with a 10 cup double wall stainless steel carafe, or black or white with a 12 cup glass carafe.  A thermal carafe is not available for the black or white version.

The entire coffee grinding chamber and lid easily lifts from the top of the coffee maker and that it can be placed in the dishwasher. Removal and replacement of this component could not be easier and faster. There are not screws to remove, simply open the lid and lift it out.

The built-in coffee grinder is neatly tucked into the back left corner of the unit.  Access is gained by lifting the lid on top. The grinding chamber is protected by a see-through plastic lid. Remove this to poor in your favorite coffee beans. The grinder uses high-strength stainless steel cutting blades for precise grinding of the beans. It is recommended by Cuisinart that you remove the grinding chamber and rinse after each use. But, we found it could be left in place for several uses before rinsing under the faucet.

If you wish to use pre-ground coffee, you may disable the automatic feature of the grinder by pressing the grind disable button on the control panel.

The Grind & Brew coffee maker features a digital clock and timer control that allows for automatic brewing and grinding up to 24 hours in advance. You can program the Grind & Brew to begin grinding your coffee beans and brewing the night before so you can wake up to a wonderful cup of coffee. Simply place your coffee beans into the grinder, put water in the reservoir, and set the timer. The Grind & Brew will take it from there. The timer will automatically turn the coffee maker off as well, and you can program this to occur in one hour increments up to four hours.

The permanent GoldTone coffee filter can be accessed and removed the machine by pushing the release lever for the lid located on the left side of the housing. The filter holder is also removable for cleaning. You may use either the GoldTone filter or paper filters.

If you wish to make a smaller pot of coffee between 1-4 cups, the Grind & Brew has a feature that will ensure your coffee tastes as well as a full pot of coffee. Press the "1-4 Cup" button on the control panel and the machine will double heat the small amount of water needed to ensure the coffee is as hot as that expected from a larger pot of coffee.

The anti-chlorine action of the filter will give the coffee a more delicate flavor. Good coffee starts with good water. Each filter lasts for two months or 60 pots, and they are easily replaceable. The use of the filter is optional, as it is not required to brew coffee. It can be removed from the reservoir if you wish.

The Grind & Brew allows for removal of the carafe during mid brew for those who just can't wait for the full pot! The filter basket automatically stops the coffee flow when the carafe is removed for up to 30 seconds without it dripping onto the warming plate; resuming again once it is replaced.

The carafe warmer will keep your coffee at the right temperatures for up to 4 hours before automatically shutting off and it is coated with a non-stick surface for easy cleaning of dried drips of coffee. Note: The stainless steel version does not have this feature thanks to the double wall stainless steel thermal carafe.
